Just want to say something

I notice that my neighbors care enough to greet me or start up a conversation whenever they see me. But sometimes, it is just inappropriate.
Examples:
Early morning I parked my car under a tree near our house. I am on a night shift, so I go home early morning. My neighbor saw me and when I got out of the car, he asked, "You just got arrived?" If I am frank, I would tell him, "Obviously, you saw me arriving right?" But what I told him was, "Yes, because I am on night duty."
There's a lot of situations similar to that, like when I fall down and my knees are bleeding and I am crying, a neighbor would come to me and ask, "Are you okay?" Again, if I was frank, I would say, "What? Can't you see that I am crying of pain. OF COURSE I AM NOT OKAY!"

Well, I guess that is just what people do when they just want to say something.
